This Privacy Policy describes how the Uku mobile application ("Uku", "the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use it. Uku is a ukulele tuner for Android. We are committed to keeping your data private and collecting as little as possible
1. Microphone access
Uku requests permission to use your device's microphone. This is required for the core tuning feature: the app listens to the sound of your ukulele and analyzes the pitch instantly, on your device. The audio stream is used only for this real-time analysis and is discarded immediately. We do not record, save, upload, or share any audio
2. Analytics and crash reporting
To understand how the app is used and to fix problems, Uku uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. These services may collect limited, non-personal technical information, such as:
- Device model, operating system version, and app version
- General, anonymized usage events (for example, which screens are opened)
- Crash logs and diagnostic information when the app encounters an error

3. Information we do not collect
We do not ask for or collect your name, email address, contacts, location, or any other personally identifying information. We do not sell or rent any data to third parties
4. Children's privacy
Uku is a general-audience app and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The analytics data described above is anonymized and not used to identify any individual
5. Data retention
Audio is never retained. Anonymized analytics and crash data are retained by Google Firebase according to Google's standard retention settings
6. Your choices
You can revoke microphone permission at any time in your device's system settings, though the tuner will not function without it. You can stop all data collection by uninstalling the app
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date
